Sugarcane farmers learned the tricks of production through exposure cum training at NSI

Kanpur, March 15 (HS). A group of about 35 progressive sugarcane farmers from East Champaran, West Champaran and Gopalganj districts of Bihar participated in a five-day exposure cum training program from March 11 to Friday, March 15 at the National Sugar Institute (NSI), Kanpur. The co-training program concluded today.

While giving information to the farmers in the training session, Assistant Professor (Agricultural Chemistry) of the institute gave detailed information on the latest advanced technology for maximum sugarcane production at low cost, importance of balanced fertilizers and management in sugarcane crop.

Dr. Lokesh Babar, Junior Scientific Officer (Agrochemicals) discussed about proper management of various diseases and pests in the latest sugarcane varieties of Bihar, losses to farmers and sugar mills due to stale sugarcane, latest agricultural equipment used in sugarcane cultivation, etc. Gave detailed information about.

Assistant Professor (Sugar Technology) Ashok Kumar Garg told the progressive sugarcane farmers about the latest technology to get more jaggery from new varieties of sugarcane.

Expressing his views at the closing ceremony of the five-day exposure cum training program, the Director of the Institute, Prof. Swain said that all the farmers participating in the program should share the meaningful information received here with other farmers of their village, block and district, only then the meaningfulness of the program will be proved. When advanced technologies spread, there will be a qualitative increase in the yield and a reduction in labor and cost. Both the saved money and labor can be used in other developmental works.
