Such accounts are being closed from July 1, the bank is sending notice

Punjab National Bank Alert: There is important news for crores of account holders of the country's second largest government bank Punjab National Bank. If you have an account in PNB which you have not used for years, then the bank is going to take action on such accounts. The bank has recently informed its customers that they should get KYC of such accounts done as soon as possible. If this is not done, such accounts will be closed by PNB.

Sharing this information on its official X handle, Punjab National Bank has said that these days many fraudsters are misusing the accounts which have not been used by the customers for a long time. In view of the increase in such cases, the bank has taken this big step. The bank has said in its notification that the accounts which are not in use for more than 3 years till 30 April 2024 will now be closed within a month. The bank has set a deadline of 30 June 2024 to avoid inconvenience to the customers.

Customers should activate their account – PNB
The bank said that to keep such accounts active, customers should activate the account before July 1. After this, the bank will terminate all services related to such accounts without any notice. Complete the KYC process for such accounts as soon as possible.

KYC is required if you want to reactivate a dormant account
In such a case, you will have to go to the bank and submit the KYC form. Along with this, you will also have to submit many important documents. After this your account will be activated again.

Such accounts will not be closed
The bank has also released a list of accounts which the bank is not going to close. This includes accounts opened under schemes like Demat Account, SSY Account, Atal Pension Yojana (APY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY). The bank is also not going to close the small savings account.
