Such a mysterious disease has spread in this country that the patient is sure to die within 48 hours of the appearance of symptoms

The East Asian country Japan has been hit by such a rare disease that if someone gets this disease, death is certain. The patient dies in just 48 hours. Doctors say that this mysterious disease is spreading through flesh-eating bacteria. After the removal of Corona restrictions, the country has once again come under the grip of a new disease.

The National Institute of Infectious Diseases says it has been tracking this mysterious disease since 1999. As of June 2 this year, 977 cases of this disease have been reported in Japan, while last year the figure was 941. This year the disease is causing more havoc. According to experts, it has been named Streptococcal Toxic Shock Syndrome (STSS).

The disease usually begins with a swollen and sore throat. But some types of bacteria can cause symptoms to develop more quickly. These include pain and swelling in body parts, fever, low blood pressure, respiratory distress, organ failure and then death. Doctors say people over the age of 50 are at higher risk of contracting the disease.

Ken Kikuchi, professor of infectious diseases at Tokyo Women's Medical University, says, “The biggest danger of this disease is that it can cause death within 48 hours. Its severity can be gauged from the fact that swelling starts appearing in the patient's legs in the morning. By noon, it can spread to the knees and the patient can die within 48 hours.”

Kikuchi says that given the current rate of infection, the number of such cases in Japan could reach 2,500 this year. The mortality rate could be 30 percent, which is very scary. Kikuchi appealed to people to keep their hands clean and not be careless in treating open wounds. This bacteria can enter the hands and then the body through dirt.
