This is the second time that an ODI match has been tied between India and Sri Lanka. Earlier in the year 2012, a tied ODI match was played between India and Sri Lanka. In that match, Sri Lanka batted first and scored 236 runs for the loss of 9 wickets, in response to which the Indian team could only score 236 runs for the loss of 9 wickets.

Sri Lanka won the toss and batted first and scored 230 runs for 8 wickets in 50 overs. In front of which the Indian team collapsed for 230 runs in 47.5 overs. At the end of this match, the team needed 1 run in 15 balls and still had two wickets left. But the Indian team lost two wickets in two consecutive balls, due to which the match was tied.
