RS Pura, May 24 (HS). Former state general secretary of Bhartiya Kisan Sangh and farmer leader Subhash Dasgotra held a press conference on Friday and demanded from the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir that sufficient amount of electricity and canal water should be made available to the farmers of Jammu division so that the border farmers can complete the work of transplanting paddy in time.
During a press conference held in Meera Sahib area, farmer leader Subhash Dasgotra said that as soon as the summer season started, power cuts have started and canal water is also not reaching the last end due to which the border farmers are not able to plant paddy seedlings. He said that every year farmers do not get electricity and water at the time of need but the government does not prepare any such scheme which can benefit the farmers.
He said that the existence of the canal is in danger due to encroachment on the banks of the canal and the cleaning of the canal is also not done in a proper manner. He said that the government needs to take effective steps to provide basic facilities like electricity, water to the farmers.
