Bilateral relations between India and China are also strained due to the tense border situation for more than four years. However, with the completion of the disengagement process of troops from both countries along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Depsang and Demchok in eastern Ladakh, India-China relations are poised to improve.
Both countries have also destroyed military infrastructure in sensitive areas. Now the armies of both the countries can start joint patrolling. Addressing journalists on Wednesday, China's Ambassador to India Xu Feihong said that both the countries have resolved the issues with mutual consent. Being neighbours, there will be some issues between the two, but after the meeting of President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia last week, both the countries are trying to strengthen bilateral relations. We will soon resume direct flights between India and China. Regarding army withdrawal in Depsang and Demchok, he said that talks will continue at the local commander level.
At present the process of disengagement in Depsang and Demchok has been completed. At present, local military commanders of both the countries discuss on the hotline every morning. They also hold face-to-face meetings at fixed points once or twice a day.
