Students were told about the ill effects of tobacco and made aware

Dehradun, 27 July (HS). District Tobacco Control Cell Dehradun organized an awareness workshop on tobacco prohibition at Beehive Group of Colleges Selaqui on Saturday. In the program, students were made aware about the ill effects of tobacco consumption on the body.

The theme for the tobacco prohibition campaign by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, has been decided as protecting children from the interference of the tobacco industry. In the workshop, it was informed that the consumption of tobacco products has a fatal effect not only on the physical health of children but also on their mental health. Every year many people in the country lose their lives due to the consumption of tobacco products. During the workshop, the message given to the children was that the deaths caused by tobacco consumption reduce the customers of tobacco product companies. After this, tobacco companies adopt new ways to attract teenagers, children and youth towards their products. The youth will have to understand this conspiracy and stay away from tobacco products.

Psychologist Dr. Anuradha gave information about the ill effects of tobacco consumption through a presentation. Poster and rangoli competitions were also held on the subject of ill effects of tobacco. Students securing first, second and third positions in the competition were awarded. Certificates were given to all the participants. District Advisor Archana Uniyal informed the students about the COTPA Act and various sections and penalties under it. On this occasion, the institute was declared a tobacco-free educational institution as per the COTPA Act and Tobacco Free Educational Institution Guidelines. Institute Director Dr. Manoj Sinha, Assistant Director Ankur Sharma, Amit Joshi, Lalji Asthana, College Dean Naveen Katait, Principal Dr. Kawal Jeet Singh Ahuja, Principal Nursing College Dr. Vainulata, Principal B.Ed. College Dr. Shami Bansal etc. were present in the workshop.
