Students demonstrated in BHU Social Sciences Faculty, unhappy over attendance

Varanasi, 06 May (HS). On Monday, BA and B.Sc final year students protested outside the Dean's office of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Banaras Hindu University (BHU), angry over their attendance and non-conduct of classes.

The students involved in the protest said that the examination of Geography subject was canceled due to low attendance. The students alleged that we come continuously to study. But professors do not come to teach. Once the exam dates are announced, the professor calls for classes for the last twenty days. Then they don't come continuously making some excuse or the other. In that, if a student suddenly becomes absent when called, his attendance is cut off.

The students demanded that a biometric attendance machine should be installed outside the class room to check the attendance of Professor Sir, so that their attendance can also be checked. Students alleged that many professors remain missing from the faculty for months at a time. Even the head of the department does not find any solution to these problems.
