The matter has heated up regarding the NEET UG 2024 exam and exam result. The matter has now reached the Supreme Court. A group of candidates has approached the Supreme Court demanding reorganization of the NEET-UG, 2024 exam. This exam was conducted on 5 May. The petition alleges irregularities in the NEET-UG exam held on May 5. There are many confusions regarding the result of this exam and yet the NTA is clearly defending itself.
denied the right to equality
Several cases of paper leaks have come to light. Candidates argue that the alleged NEET paper leak violates the right to equality enshrined in Article 14 of the Constitution as it puts some candidates at a disadvantage compared to others, causing huge losses to students who have worked hard to crack the exam properly. Not just paper leaks, candidates have made many other allegations regarding the exam. The National Testing Agency has clarified all these allegations and called itself clean. Know what NTA has to say on this.
Know what to argue about with bonus numbers
Giving clarification on the high cutoff and compensation marks given to the students appearing in the NEET exam, NTA said that for this several writ petitions were filed in the High Court. In which the courts of Punjab and Haryana, Delhi and Chhattisgarh expressed concern over the loss of exam time. In this, the students who took the NEET UG exam on May 5 reached late at some examination centers. The decision to resolve these complaints submitted to NTA was taken after careful consideration. NTA has constituted a Grievance Redressal Committee consisting of eminent experts from the field of examination and education to consider such complaints / representations and submit its recommendations.
Why toppers from the same exam center?
In response to some of the NEET-UG 2024 toppers being from the same centre, NTA sources say that there is some misunderstanding about the NEET-UG result of candidates who scored 720/720 marks and they are from the same centre. They also clarified that although the candidates from this exam centre were given compensatory marks, these particular candidates were already high scorers before their marks were adjusted through normalisation. Also, the bonus marks did not artificially increase their marks but were given at the expense of exam time using a statistical formula. NTA says that any adjustment in numbers follows a standard formula, which is applied after thorough verification of all facts through CCTV analytics and ground staff reports. Hence, there is no discrepancy in the result declared by NTA on 4.6.24.
Result before due date?
On this, NTA argues that the initiative to declare NEET UG result on 4 June 2024 instead of 14 June 2024 was taken as a convenience for the candidates. As per NTA protocol, the results should be declared as soon as possible after completing the necessary verification after the answer-key challenge period. This period usually lasts from 3 to 7 days. The result dates given in the information bulletin are tentative dates, but NTA tries to release the results as soon as possible. The NEET (UG) 2024 results were ready by June 4, 2024, so there was no reason to delay the declaration by more than ten days.
Why is the paper made so simple?
This year the paper was made easier than last year. In response to this allegation, NTA said that 24 lakh students had registered this year as against 20 lakh last year. Also, 15% of the syllabus has been cut from the total syllabus this year. The revision of the answer key led to revision of Physics marks for some students. We are completely transparent in declaring the results and conducting the examination process. We have nothing to hide.
