Student Protest Update: Mamta Banerjee came out in support of the students, asked- ‘Why is the government so desperate to save the Education Minister?’

The demonstration of students and youth regarding NEET exam rigging at Jantar Mantar in the capital Delhi has now reached a major political turning point. After the Congress march, Trinamool Congress chief and former Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee has also openly expressed his support for the protesting students.

In a detailed post shared on social media platform ‘X’, Mamata Banerjee has raised strong questions on the intentions of the Central Government and police action. He asked why the government is so desperate to defend the Education Minister in a matter where the future of millions of youth is at stake.

“The action of lathi charge and tear gas on students is barbaric”

Mamata Banerjee strongly condemned the action taken by Delhi Police against the protesters. they wrote:

• Unacceptable action: The use of police force, lathicharge, tear gas shells and use of pellet guns on peaceful protesting students is extremely disturbing and completely inhumane.

• Future Fight: This fight is not just to get justice in an examination scam (NEET Scam), but a movement to secure the future of every youth of the country.

“Why is the government afraid of the democratic movement?”

Questioning the policies of the Central Government, Mamata Banerjee said that suspending internet services in Jantar Mantar and surrounding areas and imposing strict laws on the protesting students shows that the government is scared of this democratic movement.

He asked that if the accused, who have affected the lives and careers of lakhs of candidates, are roaming free and evading accountability, then whom is the government trying to save?

“The entire opposition stands with the students”

Praising the spirit of the youth of the country, the former CM said that the entire opposition stands strongly with the students and candidates in this difficult situation. He saluted the unwavering courage of the youth for not succumbing to lathicharge, police action and government pressure.

Let us tell you that before this, activist Sonam Wangchuk was also on fast in support of the demands of the students, who recently ended her 26-day-old hunger strike after getting assurance from the government. However, protests by various organizations continue at Jantar Mantar regarding transparency in competitive examinations and education reforms.
