Struggle saga: This Rajasthan Royals player spent his childhood in extreme poverty, never got his father's love

The Jamaica-born star batsman may be living a life like Lewis today, but his childhood was full of struggles. Whoever heard his story was stunned. At the age of 11–12, Powell promised his mother that he would bring him and his younger sister out of poverty. Powell kept his promise and today he is giving them a better life with his hard work.

During an interview, the Caribbean captain's mother had revealed that Powell's father wanted to kill him in the womb but his mother refused to do so and decided to give birth to him. Powell was born on 23 July 1993 in St. Catherine, Jamaica. Powell is from a very poor family. When he was born, the family did not have enough money even for one meal.

Powell never received his father's love. He is still separated from his father and his close relatives. Once Powell was asked about his father, he said that he never met him but I am grateful to him for giving me the opportunity to come into this world. 'I had a very difficult childhood but I have always believed in God. I want to tell those children whose father is not with them. No problem, you have God.
