Once again a big change is being seen in the weather of Uttar Pradesh. Monsoon, which was sluggish for the last few days, has now picked up pace again through Eastern Uttar Pradesh (Purvanchal). Due to the effect of the new weather system and turf line formed in the Bay of Bengal, monsoon activities have intensified again across the state. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has today issued a warning of rain and thundershowers in more than 41 districts of Uttar Pradesh, while yellow and orange alerts of torrential rain have also been declared in many areas.
New phase of monsoon becomes active from Purvanchal to entire state
According to meteorologists, due to the effect of the low pressure area over Madhya Pradesh and the active cyclonic circulation in the North-West Bay of Bengal, the movement of clouds has started in the districts of Eastern UP. People who have been suffering from humidity and heat for the last few days, are now hopeful of getting great relief from this heavy rain. This monsoon rain will prove to be very beneficial for the farmers and especially for the paddy crop.
Warning of torrential rain and thunderstorm in these districts
According to the latest update of the Meteorological Department, today there is a possibility of heavy to extremely heavy rain in many major districts of Purvanchal including Gorakhpur, Maharajganj, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Kushinagar, Siddharthnagar, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Ayodhya and Ambedkar Nagar. Instructions have been given to be especially cautious in these areas.
Apart from this, yellow alert has been issued in more than 41 districts including Varanasi, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Lucknow, Bahraich, Meerut, Aligarh, Mathura, Agra and Jhansi for heavy showers and lightning. At some places, strong winds can also blow at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour.
Weather will remain like this till Independence Day
The Meteorological Department estimates that this new round of rain will be active with its full strength in entire Uttar Pradesh from 17th to 18th August. Heavy rains are expected to continue in most of the districts of both western and eastern divisions during 14th to 17th-18th August. During this period, the temperature can drop by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius, which will give people relief from the humid heat forever.
Meteorological Department’s advice and precautions
In view of the bad weather and possibility of storm, the administration has appealed to the general public not to take shelter in open fields, under trees or near weak roofs during thunderstorms. Farmers have also been advised to stay in safe places during agricultural work and make proper arrangements for drainage in the fields.
