Strict vigil against ragging at DU ahead of new session: Administration issues helpline numbers.

Just before the start of the new academic session in Delhi University (DU), the university administration has geared up to crack down on anti-social activities like ragging on the campuses. Every year in the new session, the DU administration has taken strict steps to protect thousands of new students coming from all over the country from any kind of mental or physical trouble. To ensure a ragging free campus, the University has activated a special anti-ragging cell and has also issued a dedicated helpline number so that any student can seek immediate help in case of need. This strict stance of the administration has sent a clear message to the seniors that strict action will be taken against those who violate the rules on campus.

What are the new instructions and anti-ragging measures of DU administration?

Clear instructions have been given to all the colleges and departments of Delhi University to form Anti-Ragging Committees in their campuses and keep them active. To welcome new students and ensure their safety, surveillance has been increased around the main gate and hostels of every college. Apart from this, posters related to anti-ragging rules are being put up on campus walls and notice boards to make students aware. The main objective of the administration is to ensure that the first day of college for the new students is spent in a pleasant environment without any fear or hesitation.

Helpline numbers issued for any emergency

Keeping the safety of students paramount, DU has issued 24-hour helpline numbers and email IDs. If any incident like ragging, misbehavior or unnecessary pressure happens to any student, he/she can immediately contact these numbers without any fear. The administration has also assured that the identity of the student making the complaint will be kept strictly confidential and immediate disciplinary action will be taken against senior students found guilty or those found guilty of indiscipline within the campuses.

Important advice and message of confidence for new students

Senior officials of the university have appealed to all the freshers taking admission in the new session not to come under any kind of pressure and start their college life without any hesitation. The administration stands strongly with them. This initiative of DU not only removes the concerns of parents regarding the safety of their children, but also promotes a healthy, safe and academically rich educational environment, so that students can concentrate fully on their studies without any hindrance.
