Stormy return of monsoon in UP: Alert of heavy rain in many districts including Prayagraj, Jhansi and Bundelkhand, there will be a huge fall in mercury UP Weather Rain Alert


There is relief news for the people struggling with the humid heat in Uttar Pradesh. Monsoon has once again made a vigorous and stormy comeback in the state due to the favorable position of the low pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal and the monsoon trough line. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) and Zonal Meteorological Center Lucknow, there is a possibility of torrential rain with thunderstorms in many districts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bundelkhand and Vindhya region during the next 48 to 72 hours. Due to continuous rains and strong cold winds, the maximum temperature may drop by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius in most parts of the state.

Warning of heavy rain in Prayagraj, Varanasi and Vindhya region

According to the latest bulletin of the Meteorological Department, the monsoon system will be most effective in the districts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh.

  • Major districts: Moderate to heavy rain with strong thunder is forecast in Prayagraj, Varanasi, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Bhadohi, Chandauli, Ghazipur, Jaunpur and Kaushambi.

  • Water level of Ganga-Yamuna: Due to continuous rain, waterlogging may occur in coastal and low-lying areas, regarding which the local administration has been instructed to remain alert.

Monsoon becomes active in Bundelkhand: Heavy rain in Jhansi, Banda and Chitrakoot

Even in Bundelkhand division, which is facing drought and scorching heat, a camp of dark dense clouds has formed.

An alert has been issued for strong gusty winds at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour and intermittent heavy rains in Jhansi, Lalitpur, Jalaun, Banda, Mahoba, Hamirpur and Chitrakoot. Good rains have brought happiness back on the faces of farmers, as it will give new life to paddy, pulses and other Kharif crops.

Condition of Central and Western UP: Relief in Lucknow and Kanpur also

In the capital Lucknow, Kanpur, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Ayodhya, Barabanki, Sitapur and Lakhimpur Kheri, the sky will be densely covered and there is a possibility of light to moderate showers in some areas.

Agra, Aligarh, Meerut, Bareilly and Moradabad of Western Uttar Pradesh may also receive light rain with thunderstorms, due to which the temperature will drop to around 30 to 32 degrees Celsius.

Strict advisory from Meteorological Department regarding lightning (thunderstorm)

With this activity of monsoon, meteorologists have issued a special warning regarding the incidents of lightning in the state:

  • Do not stand near open fields, ponds, tall trees or electric poles during rain or heavy thunder.

  • Farmers working in the fields should take shelter in safe permanent places or houses during bad weather.
