Weather Update: Changes in the weather are being seen across the country. There is a possibility of relief from heat from Delhi to Mumbai. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that there is a possibility of rain in Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and some states of South India in the next five days.
IMD has predicted thunderstorms and rain in Delhi on Saturday. Many parts of Delhi may witness dust storms and light rain today. Delhi will also remain partly cloudy today. Dust storms may blow at a speed of 50 to 60 kmph in Delhi late in the evening.
IMD said that the weather in Delhi will change due to the effect of the new western disturbance. The maximum temperature in Delhi today is expected to be around 42 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature around 29 degrees Celsius. Delhi is also likely to receive rain on Sunday, June 9. However, heat may return to Delhi after that.
The weather department has confirmed heavy to very heavy rains in Mumbai and Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) from June 9 to 11. The IMD has issued a 'heavy rain warning' for Mumbai and Thane at the onset of monsoon. Mumbai received rain yesterday on June 8.
Mumbai and Thane areas will receive heavy to very heavy rains on June 9-10. There is also a heavy rain alert in central Maharashtra. Shear zones are also getting activated in these areas, due to which Mumbai will receive the maximum rainfall. Mumbai is expected to receive more than 100 mm of rain, while isolated areas may receive more than 150 mm of rain.
Weather forecast: weather condition in the country
The IMD has forecast heavy rains in Goa, Karnataka, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal and Sikkim till June 10. Heavy rains are expected in Ral till June 9. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are also likely to receive rains on June 9 and 10.
The Kerala Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts for June 9. Apart from this, a yellow alert has also been declared for Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram districts.
Rain and strong winds are expected in parts of Madhya Pradesh in the next 24 hours. While an orange alert has been declared for Barwani, Khargone, Khandwa, Indore, Dewas, Dhar, Betul, Ujjain, Jhabua and Alirajpur districts.
