The world's second most powerful typhoon formed in southern China and after causing minor damage to China, it moved towards the rest of the world. Let us tell you that this storm is named after the Japanese word Yagi for goat and the zodiac sign Capricorn. The storm first hit the coast of China on September 6. After this, it moved towards countries like Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Namibia etc., where it wreaked havoc. So far 350 people have lost their lives due to this storm. Along with this, small countries have also suffered huge economic losses.
To help the four countries Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam and Namibia which are facing destruction due to the storm, India's Modi government launched 'Operation Sadbhavana' two days ago. Under this, financial aid and relief material is being sent to these countries. So far, aid has been sent twice under the operation.
A lot of relief material has been sent so far
According to the report, under 'Operation Sadbhavana', relief worth $1 million (Rs 8.40 crores) has been sent to Vietnam and $1 lakh (Rs 84 lakhs) to Laos. Indian Air Force's C-17 aircraft has sent 35 tonnes of relief material to Laos and Vietnam. 32 tonnes of relief material has been sent to Myanmar by Indian Air Force's IL-76 aircraft. Earlier, 21 tonnes of relief material was sent. Indian Navy has started HADR operation in Yangon, Myanmar. For this, drinking water, ration, medicines, HADR pallets have been sent in warships from Visakhapatnam.
Cyclone Yagi has killed 74 people in Myanmar. 2.40 lakh people have become homeless. 226 people died in Vietnam alone. Factories, hospitals, houses have been washed away in the floods. 35 people have lost their lives in Laos. Relief materials include water, food items, blankets, medicines, utensils and solar lanterns.
