Madhubani, June 22, (HS). People staged a fierce protest on Saturday in the district headquarters against the water problem in the scorching heat and the planned filling up of various ponds by land mafias. In front of the Collectorate, the deputy mayor of the Municipal Corporation, Amanullah Khan, said that there is water crisis everywhere. Most of the ponds are being filled up by land mafias. The common people are facing problems in giving water to the cattle, taking bath, cleaning utensils, washing clothes and taking bath.
District President of Congress Manoj Mishra said that land mafias are involved in residential land business by filling up various ponds located at the headquarters as part of a conspiracy. Correspondence was done to the district administration and the revenue department of the state government for meaningful cooperation and a ban on this. On Saturday, a protest was held in front of the Collectorate to free the ponds from land mafias. On Saturday, a full-blown protest was held at the headquarters under the leadership of the District Congress President and Deputy Mayor of the Municipal Corporation Amanullah Khan. An eight-point memorandum was handed over to DM Arvind Kumar Verma on the occasion. Leaders of the allied parties of the Grand Alliance, including the Congress, were present at the protest site.
