Under the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana, the district administration is working diligently to ensure that the special backward tribe Kamar beneficiaries benefit from the public welfare schemes of the government. The result of this is that in the first experiment of the state, a stop dam will be built with the funds of JFMC (Joint Forest Management Committee) and MNREGA in the forest resource rights village Matiyabahra of Vananchal Nagari Development Block of Dhamtari district. With this, irrigation facility will be available in 76 hectare area of the said villages, and water will also be conserved. With the construction of the stop dam, the 10 year old demand of the villagers will be fulfilled. Farmers and villagers will also get irrigation and drainage facilities.
Collector Namrata Gandhi and Divisional Forest Officer Shama Farooqui recently held a meeting in Dugli to know the field reality of the works being done under the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana. In this, Joint Forest Management Committee member Bhanuram Netam and Secretary Radheshyam Netam requested that the 12 year old dam in Matiyabahara should be renovated and a stop dam should be built on it, so that 22 farmers here can get the facility of irrigation in 76 hectare area. On this, in the presence of the Joint Forest Management Committee and the villagers, a resolution was passed that an amount of Rs 9 lakh 56 thousand would be allocated by the committee for the construction of the dam and Rs 2 lakh 76 thousand from MNREGA, making the said stop dam at a total cost of Rs 12 lakh 32 thousand. Will be constructed.
