Uttarkashi, May 31 (HS). Many vehicles were damaged due to falling of huge stones from the mountain near Dabrani on Gangotri National Highway on Friday. One person died in this incident, while 10 people were injured.
According to the information, due to the fire on the mountain near Dabrani on the Gangotri Highway on Friday afternoon, large stones fell on the highway. A Bolero vehicle, bike, car, BRO truck, a JCB machine and a water tanker were damaged due to the stones. In this incident, one person died on the spot, while 10 people were injured. Eight of these injured have been admitted to the hospital in Harshil with the help of 108 ambulance service, while two injured were admitted to the district hospital in Uttarkashi.
Police, SDRF, NDRF, Revenue Team, Disaster QR Team reached the spot and carried out relief and rescue work. Police stopped the pilgrims going to Gangotri Dham for some time due to stones falling from the hill. Due to which long queues of vehicles were formed on both sides.
Police said that traffic on both sides of Gangotri National Highway was stopped at a safe place. After removing the boulders from the road, the road has been opened for movement.
The injured include Subhash Voniyal son of Homa Voniyal, age- 40 years, resident of village Kachta, police station Kalsi, Dehradun, Beena Voniyal wife of Subhash Voniyal, age- 38 years, Divyanshu son of Subhash, age- 18 years, Himanshu son of Subhash, age- 16 years, Meera wife of Nitesh, resident of Muzaffarnagar, age- 35 years, Vishakha daughter of Nitesh, age 25 years, Radha daughter of Nitesh, age- 16 years, Nitesh resident of Muzaffarnagar, Gopal Bahadur, Roshan Jadav, etc. The deceased has not been identified yet.
