The Indian stock market closed in the green zone today i.e. Friday, August 16. The market opened with gains in the morning. The Sensex closed at 80,436, up 1,330 points. The Nifty also closed at 24,541, up nearly 400 points. The market opened with a jump of more than 800 points in the morning, although later it saw a decline of 200 points. Now the market is gaining momentum again. Buying was seen in IT, auto, media, realty and oil and gas stocks.
Investors' wealth increased by Rs 6 lakh crore
The strong rally in the Indian stock market has seen a huge jump in the wealth of investors. The market cap of shares listed on the BSE has once again crossed Rs 450 lakh crore and reached Rs 450.35 lakh crore, which was Rs 444.29 lakh crore in the last session. In today's last session, the wealth of investors increased by more than Rs 6 lakh crore.
The market was closed yesterday on the occasion of Independence Day
Yesterday, Thursday, August 15, there was a holiday in the stock market. Earlier on Wednesday, the market saw a bullish trend. The Sensex closed 150 points higher at 79,065, while the Nifty closed flat at 24,143. Out of the 50 stocks of Nifty, 24 rose and 26 fell sharply.
