Stock Market Today: As the time for the results of the Lok Sabha elections is coming closer, the stock market has gained momentum. Sensex and Nifty reached new record highs for the third consecutive day. Apart from this, the midcap and telecom index have also recorded new historical peaks.
Today, the Sensex opened at an all-time high of 75679.67 with a gain of 245.07 points. At 11.10 am, it was trading at 75584, up 173.95 points. The Nifty was also trading at 22989.05, up 31.95 points, after hitting a new high of 23043.20.
Realty stocks surge
Realty stocks have been moving at an impressive pace for some time now. The realty index has been making new highs every day for the last fortnight. However, it is still far from its all-time high of 13848.09 (8 January 2008). A new 52-week high of 8166.97 was made today.
Upper circuit in 257 stocks
257 stocks are trading in upper circuit on BSE today. 225 stocks hit lower circuit. 185 stocks hit new year highs, while 37 stocks hit 52-week lows. Market cap at 11 am: Rs. 420.51 lakh crore.
Market experts have advised to adopt a cautious stance, keeping an eye on further statements and actions of the Fed for concrete signals on any possible rate cuts. The market is expecting a rate cut but there is uncertainty about the timing and amount, which may give the market short-term relief from inflation data.
