Stock market peaked, Nifty above 24,200, Sensex opened at 79,840

Sensex close to 80000 points for the first time: Tuesday is proving to be a good day for the Indian stock market. The stock market has started at a new historical peak. Both Sensex and Nifty reached new record highs. The BSE Sensex opened at 79,840.37 with a gain of 364.18 points or 0.46 percent. The NSE Nifty is at 24,228.75, up 86.80 points, with a gain of 0.36 percent.

The BSE Sensex opened 211.30 points or 0.27 per cent higher at 79,687.49, while the Nifty rose 60.20 points or 0.25 per cent to a new all-time high of 24,202.20.

As soon as the market opened, 1935 stocks rose, 536 stocks fell and 97 stocks remained unchanged. Eicher Motors, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, HCL Technologies and Hero MotoCorp were the top gainers on the Nifty during early trade. On the other hand, Bajaj Auto, Sun Pharma, Bajaj Finance, Tata Motors and Adani Enterprises declined.
