STF arrests another terrorist in West Bengal

Kolkata, June 22 (HS). The Special Task Force (STF) of West Bengal Police has arrested a terrorist of Bangladesh's banned terrorist organization Shahadat. He has been identified as Mohammad Habibullah who lived in Kanksa, West Burdwan. He has been arrested today on Saturday by the STF of West Bengal Police in collaboration with the local police station. He has also been found to be associated with the terrorist module “Ansar Al Islam”, which is a banned terrorist organization in Bangladesh and is also associated with “Al Qaeda”. Al Qaeda is a global terrorist organization.

STF SP IPS Indrajit Basu said that on Saturday the STF was successful in arresting Habibullah as an active member of the said module. The members of the group mostly communicate through a secret messaging platform, “BIP”. Their aim has been to wage war against the governments of India and Bangladesh.

In this regard, a specific case has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act at Kankasa police station under Asansol Durgapur Police Commissionerate. Efforts are being made to find out about his other accomplices by interrogating him.
