The ongoing excavations in Sambhal and Chandausi of Uttar Pradesh are revealing new historical secrets every day. The discovery of structures like temples, wells, stepwells and tunnels along with ancient heritage has highlighted the historical importance of the area. The discovery of these remains has attracted the attention of the local administration and archaeologists.
Temple and well found in Sambhal
An ancient temple and well have been found during excavations in Sambhal. It is believed that this place is very important from religious and historical point of view. Excavations are ongoing and plans are being made by the administration to conserve it.
Ancient stepwell and tunnel revealed in Chandausi
During excavation in Laxmanganj locality of Chandausi, an ancient buried stepwell, building and tunnel have been discovered.
- Stepwell: This stepwell found during excavation is believed to be about 150 years old.
- Ancient Building: An ancient building of two rooms was also discovered near the stepwell.
- Tunnel: A long tunnel was revealed during the excavation, which made the site even more mysterious.
Administration took command
After discovery of the tunnel and ancient structures, District Magistrate Dr. Rajendra Pansia and Superintendent of Police Krishna Kumar Vishnoi reached the spot and took stock of the situation.
- Area of the stepwell: According to the records, this stepwell is spread over 400 square meters, but at present only 210 square meters of it is left.
- Instructions to remove encroachment:
- Encroachment has been found on the remaining 190 square meters of land.
- The administration has given clear instructions that encroachment should be removed after measuring the area of the stepwell.
- Archaeological Survey: The DM said that the State Archeology Department team will be called to survey the stepwell and other structures.

- Banke Bihari Temple: It has also been decided to renovate the Banke Bihari Temple located near the stepwell.
- Cooperation of local administration: The District Magistrate has made a plan for the development of the area by vacating the encroached land around the temple.
