State government is serious on the incidents of inconvenience caused to patients in hospitals affiliated to medical colleges

The state government, taking serious note of the inconvenience caused to patients in the past few days due to non-compliance of standard protocols in the hospitals affiliated to medical colleges, issued guidelines to the principals and hospital superintendents of all medical colleges for the smooth operation of medical facilities. Are. Also, it has been instructed that if any incident comes to light in future due to negligence, then the responsibility for it will be of the concerned Superintendent and strict action will be taken against the guilty public servant.

Additional Chief Secretary of the Medical Education Department, Shubhra Singh, said that the state government has taken seriously the unfortunate incidents like transfusion of blood of wrong group to a patient in SMS Hospital and delivery of a woman in the premises of Kanwatiya Hospital. To ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future, the Medical Education Department has written a letter to the principals and superintendents of all medical colleges and given instructions.

Transparency will have to be taken care of in Duri Roster, Superintendent will monitor

It has been said in the letter that full care should be taken of transparency in the duty roster in hospitals. All doctors should be present on floor and on call duty as per the roster. Emergency, Labor Room, ICU for supervision of work and responsibilities of resident doctors. For example, faculty duty should be necessarily imposed at sensitive places. Doctors should provide services as per the duty roster, this will be monitored from the level of hospital superintendent. In case of disobedience of the roster, the Principal and Controller will take action as per rules.

In the letter, regular physical inspection of hospital stores, ensuring proper supply of all equipment and reagents as well as regular maintenance of equipment and testing machines, regular checking of the functioning of the oxygen plant and smooth supply of oxygen in wards, ICU, emergency etc. Supply instructions have been given. Besides, it should also be kept in mind that there is adequate supply of water and electricity in the hospital. Arrangements for generators and power backup should be made necessary, so that in case of power cut, essential services like investigation, treatment etc. are not affected. Coolers, ACs and fans should be functional and properly maintained.

There will be mutual communication with residents, surprise inspection of sensitive places

According to the guidelines, for better arrangements and coordination in the hospitals, the Principal and Controller will have to maintain mutual communication with the doctors and junior residents working in the college. To improve the arrangements, a mandatory meeting will be organized with them once a month. All Principals, Superintendents and Heads of Departments will ensure proper arrangements by conducting surprise inspections at night at sensitive places of the hospital including Ward, ICU, Emergency, Trauma Centre. Instructions have also been given in the letter to bring any serious issue to the notice of the state government with immediate effect. The compliance report of all these instructions will have to be compulsorily sent to the Medical Education Department by the 10th of every month.
