The year 2024 has been very difficult for Steve Smith so far. This year, not a single innings of any kind has been seen from his bat in Test cricket. This year Smith scored only 232 runs in 13 innings at an average of 23.20. This includes only one half-century while Smith has not scored a single century this year.
In the first innings of the Perth Test, Smith was out without opening an account, while in the second innings he scored only 17 runs. Apart from this, Smith scored only 2 runs in the first innings of Adelaide Test, while he did not get a chance to bat in the second innings. Smith has scored only 19 runs so far in this series. After which now this player is in danger of being out of the Gaba Test.

Recently ICC has released the latest ranking of Test batsmen. In which Smith has suffered a lot due to poor form. Steve Smith is now out of the list of top-10 batsmen, which is a matter of concern for this player and Australia as well. Smith has now reached 11th place in the ICC rankings for Test batsmen.
