The cricketer who passed away was the former captain of the Papua New Guinea (PNG) international women's team. The entire East Asia-Pacific cricket community was in mourning following his demise. The name of this cricketer was Kaiya Arua. International Cricket Council ICC has shared complete information along with his picture on Twitter. He was a brilliant captain and also captained PNG in 39 T20 Internationals.

Who was Kaiya Arua?

Arua was a brilliant all-rounder. She played for the PNG national team for the first time in the East Asia Pacific Trophy in 2010. After this he became a regular part of the team. She was also selected in the squad for the qualifier round of the 2017 Women's Cricket World Cup. He then captained PNG against Ireland in the 2018 T20 World Cup Qualifier. In the same year she was also selected in the ICC Women's Global Development Team. Then from 2019 she became the regular captain of the team.

Excellent record in captaincy

Talking about Arua's captaincy, he made PNG the champion in the 2019 East Asia Pacific T20 World Cup Qualifier.
