Stampede in Tirupati temple, 6 devotees died, many injured, PM Modi expressed grief

A stampede broke out at the Baikunth Dwar Darshan ticket counter of Tirupati temple in Andhra Pradesh last night at 9.30 pm. Six pilgrims, including a woman, died and 40 people were injured in the accident.

Actually, tickets were being distributed for the 10-day Vaikuntha Dwar Darshanam starting from Friday. The temple committee had opened 91 counters, in which there was a crowd of about 4 thousand. Meanwhile, a woman standing in the queue fainted. The gate was opened and he was taken out for treatment. Meanwhile people started entering inside. A stampede-like situation occurred in which the sick woman died.

The country’s PM Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the accident. He wrote, “My sympathies are with those who lost their lives in the accident. I wish for the speedy recovery of the injured.”

It is noteworthy that Tirupati Dev Sthan is one of the most famous and prosperous pilgrimage places in the world. It is situated on the Seshachalam mountain in Andhra Pradesh. This temple of Lord Venkateswara was built by King Thondaman. This temple was consecrated by Ramanujacharya in the 11th century.
