Staff Selection Commission has opened a big opportunity for the youth who are dreaming of serving the country by wearing uniform and handling the law and order of the capital Delhi. The Commission has formally released the detailed notification of ‘Sub-Inspector Examination 2026 in Central Armed Police Forces and Delhi Police’ (SSC CPO SI Examination 2026) on its official website ssc.gov.in. Under this central recruitment drive, apart from Delhi Police, appointments will be made on thousands of vacant posts of male and female sub-inspectors (executive and GD) in Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). This is considered to be the biggest recruitment advertisement of the year for graduate passed candidates preparing for government jobs.
According to the calendar released by the Staff Selection Commission, eligible and interested candidates can register online by visiting the new official website of the Commission.

Starting date of online application: The application link has been activated with the release of the notification.

Last date of application: Candidates have been given a fixed deadline to fill the online form and deposit the fees. To avoid the problem of increase in load on the server at the last moment, candidates have been advised to fill the form on time.

Correction Window: After the completion of online application, a special application correction window of 2 to 3 days will be opened to correct any errors in the form.

Application Fee: The application fee for male candidates of General (UR), OBC and EWS category has been fixed at ₹ 100. At the same time, women candidates of all categories, Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Ex-Servicemen (ESM) have been completely exempted from fee payment.
The Commission has set clear eligibility criteria for joining SSC CPO Recruitment:

Educational qualification: It is mandatory for the candidate to have a Bachelor’s Degree in any stream (Arts, Science, Commerce or Engineering) from any recognized university in the country.

Special condition for Delhi Police SI: Male candidates applying for the post of Sub-Inspector (Executive) in Delhi Police must have a valid driving license of LMV (motorcycle and car) at the time of Physical Standard Test (PST/PET). Driving license is not mandatory for CAPF posts.

Age Limit: The minimum age of the candidate has been fixed at 20 years and maximum age at 25 years. Candidates belonging to reserved categories will get relaxation in the upper age limit as per rules of the Central Government, which includes relaxation of 3 years for OBC category and 5 years for SC/ST category.
SSC CPO recruitment process is conducted in total four main stages. To successfully pass each stage the candidate is required to:

Step 1: Computer Based Examination Paper-1 (CBT Paper-I)

Step 2: Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

step 3: Computer Based Examination Paper-2 (CBT Paper-II – English Language Only)

step 4: Detailed Medical Examination (DME) and Final Document Verification (DV)
The first stage of written examination i.e. Paper-1 is a multiple choice computer based test (CBT). A total of 200 questions are asked in this, for which 200 marks are allotted. The total duration of the exam is 2 hours (120 minutes).

General Intelligence and Reasoning: 50 questions, 50 marks.

General Awareness and General Knowledge: 50 questions, 50 marks. It includes Current Affairs, Indian History, Geography, Polity and General Science.

Quantitative Aptitude (Mathematics): 50 questions, 50 marks. It contains questions from both Arithmetic and Advanced Math.

English Comprehension: 50 questions, 50 marks.
Negative Marking: One-fourth (0.25 marks or corresponding negative marking) marks are deducted for each wrong answer in the examination. Therefore candidates need to avoid puns and focus on accuracy.
Candidates who score cutoff marks in Paper-1 are called for Physical Efficiency Test (PET). This stage is only of qualifying nature, i.e. its marks are not added to the final merit, but failing in it, the candidate is directly eliminated.

Standards for Male Candidates: 100 meters race in 16 seconds, 1.6 kilometers race in 6.5 minutes, long jump of 3.65 meters (3 chances), high jump of 1.2 meters (3 chances) and 16 pounds shot put 4.5 meters (3 chances).

Standards for Female Candidates: 100 meter run in 18 seconds, 800 meter run in 4 minutes, long jump of 2.7 meter (3 chances) and high jump of 0.9 meter (3 chances).
Candidates who are successful in the physical test get the opportunity to appear in the main examination i.e. Paper-2. Paper-2 is completely based on ‘English Language and Comprehension’. A total of 200 questions are asked in it, which are of 200 marks and 2 hours are given to solve it. In this, the candidates’ understanding of Vocabulary, Grammar, Error Detection, Sentence Improvement, Direct-Indirect Speech, Active-Passive Voice and Comprehension Passage is evaluated. The final merit list is prepared on the basis of total 400 marks obtained in Paper-1 and Paper-2. Also, NCC ‘C’, ‘B’ and ‘A’ certificate holders are awarded 10, 6 and 4 bonus points respectively.
Staff Selection Commission has made ‘Live Photo Capture’ system mandatory on its new website. While filling the application candidates are advised to sit straight in front of their webcam or mobile camera at a properly lit place and capture a live photo. The application will be automatically rejected if the photograph is found to be taken wearing glasses, cap or mask. Also, upload the size and format of the signature as per the official guidelines. Candidates who want to contribute to the security of the country by directly becoming a Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police or CAPF should complete their application without any delay and start preparing for the written examination and running practice simultaneously.
