The wait for lakhs of candidates going to appear in the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Tier 1 examination of Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is over. The Commission has released the admit card and admission certificate for Tier 1 examination on its official website. Candidates who applied for this prestigious recruitment examination can now directly download their hall ticket by entering their login credentials on the official portal of the Commission. This examination is being conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode for selection to Group ‘B’ and ‘C’ posts in various Central Ministries and Departments across the country.
As per the schedule released by SSC, the exam will be conducted in multiple shifts in more than 100 cities across the country. The Commission had released the Exam City Intimation Slip to the candidates a few days before the exam, so that they can plan their travel and stay. Now after the release of the detailed admit card, all the important information related to the complete address of the examination centre, reporting time, shift timing and gate closing time has become public.
To download SSC CGL Tier 1 exam admit card candidates have to follow some simple steps through the official portal:
First of all go to the new official website of Staff Selection Commission, ssc.gov.in.
Click on the ‘Login / Register’ option given on the right side of the homepage.
Enter your registration number (username) and password or date of birth and submit.
After login, go to the SSC CGL Exam section given in the dashboard.
Click on the ‘Tier 1 Admit Card / Admission Certificate’ link visible there.
Your admit card will be displayed on the screen, which will contain your name, roll number, exam center and shift details.
Download the admit card in PDF format and take a clear printout of it for future reference and to carry to the examination centre.
Immediately after downloading the admit card, candidates should match all their personal and examination related details mentioned in it. In case of any discrepancy, there may be difficulty in entering the examination center. Mainly it is mandatory to check the candidate’s full name and its spelling, father’s name, roll number, registration number, date of birth, category, gender and clarity of photo and signature.
Along with this, also carefully check the name of the examination centre, center code, reporting time, exam starting time and gate closing time. As per the strict rules of the Commission, no candidate will be allowed to enter the center after the prescribed gate closing time.
To avoid any kind of inconvenience or mental stress on the day of examination, it is necessary to prepare the necessary documents in advance. Candidates must compulsorily carry a clear printout of SSC CGL Tier 1 Admit Card with them to the examination centre. Along with this, carry at least two recent passport size color photographs. It is necessary to carry an original valid photo identity card (like Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, Passport or Driving License) as proof of identity. Keep in mind that the date of birth and name recorded on the identity card should completely match the details recorded in the admit card.
Carrying any type of electronic device like mobile phone, smartwatch, Bluetooth device, digital calculator, earphone, pen drive or any written material in the examination hall is strictly prohibited. If any candidate is found with such banned equipment, his/her candidature may be canceled immediately and he/she may also be debarred from the upcoming examinations of the Commission.
SSC CGL Tier 1 exam is an objective type test of 60 minutes (1 hour) duration. A total of 100 questions are asked in this, which are of maximum 200 marks. The question paper is divided into four main parts: General Intelligence & Reasoning (25 questions, 50 marks), General Awareness (25 questions, 50 marks), Quantitative Aptitude (25 questions, 50 marks) and English Comprehension (25 questions, 50 marks).
For each correct answer the candidate is given 2 marks. There is also a provision for negative marking in this exam, under which 0.50 marks are deducted for each wrong answer. Therefore, candidates are advised to avoid cheating and give priority to only those questions on which they are completely confident, so that negative marking does not affect the final score.
