Dhaka, March 28 (HS). Sri Lanka has suffered a major blow before the second Test match against Bangladesh, fast bowler Kasun Rajitha has been ruled out of the last match of the series to be held at the Zahoor Ahmed Choudhary Stadium from March 30. Asitha Fernando has been included in the team in place of Rajitha.

“Kasun Rajitha will not be available for the second Test as the player has sustained a left upper back injury,” Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said in a statement on Wednesday.

Rajitha, who took eight wickets in the opening Test against Bangladesh in Sylhet, played a key role in Sri Lanka's victory by taking five wickets in the second innings. The Sri Lankan team won this match by 328 runs.

Both the teams reached Chattogram ahead of the second match and will begin their preparations from Thursday for the second Test which is part of the ICC Test Championship.

Shakib Al Hasan, who made himself available for this competition, will join the squad ahead of the second Test.

The veteran all-rounder performed brilliantly with bat and ball for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club against Gazi Group Cricketers in the ongoing Dhaka Premier League at BKSP on Wednesday (March 27). Shakib scored 53 runs in 65 balls and later took two wickets for 14 runs, helping his team win the match by 39 runs.
