Jeffrey Vandersay India vs Sri Lanka: The Sri Lankan cricket team has always had spinners who have created a stir in world cricket. Apart from the great Muttiah Muralitharan, Ajantha Mendis and Rangana Herath have also created a stir. A spinner from the Sri Lankan team has once again troubled the opposition team. This time this task was done by Jeffrey Wenders. He took 6 wickets for 33 runs in 10 overs at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday.

Vandersay remembers Mendis

Ajantha Mendis had taken 6 wickets for 13 runs in an ODI match against India in 2008. Now Vandersay has done the same feat and he has also achieved this feat. He has refreshed the memory of Mendis by taking 6 wickets. Indian batsmen could not recognize his leg spin. He dismissed Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, K.L. Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and Shivam Dubey. Sri Lanka captured the match on the strength of Vandersay's deadly bowling.

Vandersay's bowling saved the Lankan team from losing the series. They have taken an unassailable 1-0 lead in the 3 ODI series. The first match in Colombo was a tie. The third match will be played on 7 August. For the first time since 2006, Sri Lanka will not lose an ODI series against India. Also, for the first time since 2012, they have not lost two consecutive matches against India.

Vandersay sets a record

Vander has become the leg spinner to take the most wickets in ODIs against India. He has broken the record of Pakistan's Mushtaq Ahmed. Mushtaq Ahmed had taken 5 wickets for 36 runs in Toronto in 1996.
