Sreejjeti University becomes All India Inter University Cricket Champion

Jhunjhunu, 8 April (Hindustan Reporter) All India Inter University Cricket (Men's Category) Championship 2023-24 Sree JJT University, Jhunjhunu won the trophy by defeating Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, Jaunpur by seven runs in a thrilling final match. With this, the host Shree JJT University Jhunjhunu also became the first university of Rajasthan to win this championship. The trophy was handed over to the winners by President Dr. Devendra Singh Dhull under the guidance of University Chairperson Dr. Vinod Tibdevala.

The final match of the All India Inter University Cricket Championship, which started from March 30, was played between the host Shree JJT University and Purvanchal University, Jaunpur at the Dr. Vinod Kumar Durgadutt Tibdewala Sports Complex. After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Sree JJT University's opener Jatin Kadyan scored 38 runs on 37 balls and Amit Dalal gave a good start to the team by scoring 25 runs on 20 balls. The first wicket of the host team fell at 60 runs. After this, captain Lakshya Dalal, who came to bat, scored a brilliant 50 runs in 19 balls with the help of 6 sixes and with the help of Sonu Chhikkara's 14 runs, scored 140 runs by losing 4 wickets in 15 overs. From Purvanchal University Jaunpur, Shubh, Vijay Yadav, Sudhanshu and Rishi took one wicket each.

Chasing the target, Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University Jaunpur's opener Sudhanshu scored 48 runs with the help of 1 six and 8 fours in 24 balls and Priyanshu scored 23 runs in 42 balls, putting the team in a strong position. But after Priyanshu was out, Vijay Yadav and Shubh kept the team in the match. In the final overs, Purvanchal University could score only 133 runs and lost the final match by 7 runs in a match that dragged on till the last over due to the tightening of the screws by the spin bowlers of the host Shri JJT University, Jhunjhunu. In the championship, Shree JJT University Jhunjhunu stood first, Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University Jaunpur stood second and Sambalpur University Sambalpur stood joint third and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Shekhawati University Sikar was honored with a trophy by University President Dr. Devendra Singh Dhull. . University Chairperson Dr Vinod Tibdewala announced a prize money of Rs 2 lakh for the champion team of host Shree JJT University.
