Dhaka, August 31 (HS). The Dhaka-Tangel highway is blocked since this morning in Bangladesh. Hundreds of employees of Square Pharmaceuticals in Borjhar area of Kaliakoir have been protesting by burning tyres on the highway since 6 am demanding salary hike and other demands.

The workers are protesting against discrimination and are protesting against their rights. The protesting employees have said that they will not return to work until their demands are met.
Assistant Police Superintendent of Gazipur Industrial Police Golam Morshed Khan said at 9:30 am that the factory workers blocked the highway and protested for various demands including salary hike. Passengers travelling to Dhaka and Tangail faced inconvenience as traffic was halted on both sides of the highway.
