To uplift the level of sports in Gujarat, sports complexes are being developed in various talukas and districts by the Gujarat Sports Authority, the state's sports, youth and culture department.

In which a large number of young athletes are participating. Sports schools are functioning in most of the districts and amid all this, the state-of-the-art sports complex built at a cost of about Rs 20 crore in Saputara of Dang district is now becoming a favorite for high altitude training. Players are being prepared by giving special training in this complex located at an altitude of 1500 meters above sea level. Due to the low oxygen environment compared to normal environment, players can become stronger and perform better at the national and international level. The Saputara campus also has a 400 meter synthetic track, Asto Turf Hockey Ground, Kabaddi and Kho-Kho grounds including Olympic size target range for archery.

Aruna Patel won bronze medal in individual event at national level in Athletics West Zone, Heena Chaudhary won gold medal in individual event at SGFI State level, Hetal Dubhile won silver medal in Archery at SGFI State level, Vikas Dubhile won silver medal in Archery, Ankit Bhil has won one silver and one bronze medal in Men's Hockey at State level

Sports complex made sports friendly for 138 players of Dang

The Saputara Sports Complex has a capacity of 138 young players and currently 84 players are being trained in various sports, including 44 girls and 40 boys. All the players have been provided with study, accommodation and education by the government and SAG. All of them have been given admission in government-recognized schools and bus transport has also been arranged from the school to the campus. The players trained in this complex won one medal at the national level and seven medals at the state level in 2023-24. 23 archery players and the maximum 34 hockey players are training in this complex.

Sarita and Murali Gavit are the pride of Dang

Sarita Gaikwad is one of the star athletes of Dang district. Sarita won silver in the women's 4x400m relay and bronze in the 400m hurdles at the 2019 Asian Games in Doha. Among male athletes, Murali Kumar Gavit won a bronze medal in the 10,000m event at the 2019 Asian Games held in Doha.
