Sports: Neeraj Chopra qualifies for Diamond League final | News India

India's two-time Olympic medalist javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra qualified for the finals of the prestigious Diamond League by finishing fourth in the table after 14 rounds. The Diamond League finals will be held in Brussels on 13 and 14 September. In athletics too, the season will conclude with the javelin throw event.

Chopra finished second in the Diamond League in Doha and Lausanne. He earned a total of 14 points. He did not participate in the last tournament in Zurich on Thursday. The 26-year-old is two points behind Czech Republic's Jakub Vadlech, who is in third place. Grenada's Anderson Peters and German star Julian Weber finished in the top two positions with 29 and 21 points respectively. Neeraj, who won gold medal in Tokyo Olympics and silver medal in Paris Olympics, is struggling with fitness this season.

Chopra was second to Peters after Peters threw 90.61m in the Lausanne leg of the Diamond League. Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem won the gold medal at the Paris Olympics with a throw of 92.97m. The Diamond League Final winner also receives the coveted Diamond Trophy, US$30,000 and a wild card to the World Athletics Championships.
