Nine of the Commonwealth Games scheduled to be held in Birmingham in 2022 will not be part of the next Games. The Glasgow Games will be held at only four venues. The games will be held from July 23 to August 2, 2026. Glasgow has also previously hosted the Commonwealth Games in 2014. Australia withdrew
The main reason for withdrawal from sports is the economic crisis. Sydney was originally scheduled to host the 2026 Commonwealth Games but Australia withdrew citing financial crisis. Glasgow eventually bid but for financial reasons planned to include fewer games which the Commonwealth Federation accepted.
