Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated India's commitment to host the Olympic Games in 2036 and said that India is preparing to host the world sporting extravaganza.
Modi mentioned the Olympic winners in his speech at the Red Fort on Independence Day. Modi said that it is the dream of all the countrymen that the Olympics of 2036 should be held on Indian soil. We are moving ahead for this mega event. It is worth noting that International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach has also supported India's claim. Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey are also in the race to host the Olympics 2036.
Modi said that by successfully hosting the G20 summit, India has shown the world that India is capable of organising international level events. It is worth noting that the election of the IOC President is to be held next year and it is likely that the decision to host the 2036 Olympics will be taken only after that.
The young shuttler's goal has now become much bigger
PM Modi also had an interesting discussion with badminton player Lakshya Sen. Modi said that I met Lakshya when he was young but now he has grown up a lot. Lakshya Sen said that my focus was on every match. We used to have dinner together in our free time and we met many good athletes in Paris. This was my first Olympics and I had a good experience. At first he was also nervous.
