In the men's category, India won the match without Gukesh playing and Praggnanandhaa took charge. He defeated Tisir Mohammad. In the second board, Arjun Erigaisi defeated Albiza Jackson and in the third board, Vidit Gujrati defeated Mahdi Pirre and in the fourth board, Pentala Harikrishna defeated Anas Moyad, giving India a 4-0 win. In the second round, India will face Iceland in which Gukesh is likely to play.
In the women's category, the Indian team defeated Jamaica in a tough match. However, India won the match by a margin of 3.5-0.5. In the women's category, India played without Harika. Vaishali Rameshbabu defeated Clark Adani, Divya Deshmukh defeated Miller Rachel in the second board and Tania Sachdev defeated Gabriella Watson in the fourth board. The match between Vantika Aggarwal and Rehana Brown in the third board was drawn. India will play against the Czech Republic in the second round in which Harika is likely to return.
