Defending champions India continued their unbeaten campaign in the Champions Trophy hockey tournament. India defeated Korea 3-1 to register their fourth consecutive win in the tournament. Paris Olympics bronze medallists India defeated China 3-0 in the first match, Japan 5-0 and 2023 runners-up Malaysia by a one-sided score of 8-1 in the third match.
In the match against Korea, Arijit Singh Hundal scored for India in the eighth minute. Captain Harmanpreet Singh scored two goals in the ninth and 43rd minutes. The only goal for Korea was scored by Jihun Yang on a penalty corner in the 30th minute. The Indian team, which has already confirmed its place in the semi-finals, will face its arch-rival Pakistan in its last league match on Saturday. The top four teams in the league stage of the six-team tournament will qualify for the semi-finals to be played on Saturday. The final match will be played on Sunday. In another league match, Malaysia defeated Japan 5-4 after a tough fight and maintained its claim in the last four. For Malaysia, Syed Cholan scored in the 12th and 40th minutes, Sumantri in the 21st minute, Siyarman Mat in the 47th minute and Kamal Abu Azraai in the 48th minute.
