The Board of Control for Cricket in India has not been able to find a new secretary for some time. The BCCI's apex council meeting will be held on Wednesday in which some issues related to the functioning of the board will be discussed but the discussion on the nomination or appointment of a new secretary in place of Jay Shah is not on the agenda.
This will be the last Apex Council meeting before the 93rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Board to be held in Bengaluru. The appointment of a new secretary has become necessary after Jay Shah was unanimously elected ICC Chairman. However, Jay Shah will resume his current role as Board Secretary during the upcoming AGM as he is set to take up his new position at the ICC from December 1. The Baiju controversy is also on the agenda of the meeting. The board has a payment dispute with its former title sponsor. The company completed the contract with the board in March last year. The company has not yet paid from 2022 to March 2023. Apart from this, there will also be a discussion about the inauguration of the National Cricket Academy built on the outskirts of Bengaluru. There is also a possibility that the renovation of the exterior of the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai will also be discussed.
