Kanpur, 03 December (HS). Disabled spectators will be able to enjoy cricket matches from every spectator gallery of Greenpark Stadium, which is one of the most prestigious cricket stadiums in the country. Special arrangements will be made for them. In which there will be facilities ranging from ramp to lift. This system will be practically implemented from ground floor to multi-storey galleries. Till now, no arrangement of any kind has been made for the disabled in any spectator gallery of Greenpark Stadium.
Greenpark Stadium, built in the year 1952, has about nine types of spectator galleries in which there is no separate arrangement for the disabled to sit and watch the match. Till now, cricket fans and supporters with disabilities were enjoying the matches only by sitting with the general spectators in the lowermost galleries. This time, during the Test match held last September, many disabled spectators were not given tickets for their desired spectators’ gallery. Due to which the organizers had to face a lot of resentment from the audience. Since then, the organizer UPCA has announced to renovate the Green Park. He is now determined to join hands with the government to get it renovated.
UPCA has also started the discussion on making every visitor gallery of Green Park multi-storey and constructed in a new way. UPCA has also prepared a blue print for the renovation of the Green Park. Several rounds of consultations have also been held with the district administration. Due to the by-elections in the state, the final decision regarding the construction work has not been taken yet. Now, after the renovation in Green Park, the provision of installing ramps and modern lifts in every spectator gallery including the media center will be a priority. Green Park will be rejuvenated with the joint efforts of UPCA Camp Office and Sports Department.
According to UPCA nodal officer Sujit Srivastava posted in Green Park, complete arrangements will be made for the disabled in every spectator gallery like the general audience so that they too can experience normality. Special arrangements will be made for the disabled in Green Park’s A Pavilion, A Balcony, B Pavilion, B Balcony, UPCA Lounge, Media Centre, BCCI Lounge, E General, E Public, D Chairs along with VIP and Directors Pavilion.
