As soon as the NDA alliance gets the majority, Narendra Modi government is going to be formed once again. Today Narendra Modi will take oath of the post of Prime Minister and secrecy. According to information received from sources, along with Narendra Modi, 30 other ministers will also take oath today. According to sources, 4 MPs from Chandrababu Naidu's TDP and 2 MPs from Nitish Kumar's JDU will get ministerial posts in the Modi government. The official time of the swearing-in ceremony has been fixed from 7.15 pm to 8 pm, i.e. the swearing-in ceremony will last for 45 minutes.
Narendra Modi will take oath as Prime Minister for the third consecutive time today, however the entire cabinet will not take oath with him. According to sources, only 30 ministers will take oath today. It is believed that the entire cabinet consists of 78 to 81 members.
This will be followed by swearing-in of top ministers in PM Modi's government, holding key portfolios such as home, defence, finance and external affairs – all of which will continue to be with the BJP. Others likely to be sworn-in include those who will be given key infrastructure ministries such as steel, civil aviation and coal.
The official time for taking oath is from 7:30 pm to 8:00 pm. That means the swearing-in ceremony will last for 45 minutes. The ministers who will take oath today will be informed by the government through phone this morning.
For the first time in 10 years, the BJP has not been able to secure a majority on its own, so MPs from allies will also have to be given a place in the cabinet. In particular, Chandrababu Naidu's Telugu Desam Party and Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal are insisting that they should have more than one minister in the joint government, and other allies will also have to be included in the cabinet.
BJP and Modi government wanted to reduce the number of ministers, but according to sources, now only a few ministers in the BJP government will have more than one department, that is, this time the number of ministers will increase instead of decreasing.
After taking oath, Narendra Modi will become the second Prime Minister in Indian history to take oath for the third consecutive time. Earlier, Jawaharlal Nehru had won the Lok Sabha elections in 1952, 1957 and 1962.
Foreign guests expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony include Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Maldives President Mohammed Muizzo, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay and Seychelles Vice President Ahmed Afeef.
Security has been tightened in the national capital Delhi and prohibitory orders have been imposed. Traffic restrictions will also be imposed especially on the roads around the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
It is worth noting that BJP and its allies NDA (National Democratic Front) have won 293 seats out of the total 543 seats in the Lok Sabha. India Alliance also gave a tough fight and won 232 seats. In the 2024 elections, the seats of Congress doubled from 52 in the last election to 99.
