A source close to the matter said, 'Look, we haven't discussed anything about the champions yet, but I think the chances of the Indian team touring Pakistan are low. However, the final decision in this regard will be taken by the Indian government. The PCB will definitely raise this issue in the ICC meeting to be held in Sri Lanka this month.

Will this tournament be held under the 'hybrid model'?

The source said, 'We have not discussed this yet, whatever decision the government takes will be followed. This is an ICC event, we cannot take any decision on this.' Some information about this may come out in the next meeting of the ICC. Let us tell you that Pakistan also hosted the Asia Cup last year. But then the BCCI refused to send its team to Pakistan.

After this, the PCB was forced to organize the Asia Cup under the 'hybrid model'. Now Pakistan fears that like the Asia Cup 2023, this tournament may also have to be organized under the 'hybrid model'. If the Indian team does not tour Pakistan, then India's matches in the Champions Trophy may be shifted to UAE or Sri Lanka.

In ICC board meetings, each member can raise an issue which is voted on. But if the government of a member country says they cannot play there, the ICC has to look for alternatives. Last year, BCCI president Roger Binny and vice-president Rajiv Shukla visited Pakistan during the Asia Cup.
