Sonipat, 25 April (HS). Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University Teachers Association (DCRUTA) teachers are on strike in Murthal on Thursday with 12 demands. Teachers Association President Surendra Dahiya said that the administrative officers did not come to the office nor did anyone talk to them about solving the problem, hence the protest will continue on Friday.
Principal Surendra Dahiya said that while staging this protest, care has been taken that the studies of the students are not hampered, hence the teachers are paying attention to the studies of their students. But at the same time they are also putting their problems before the management. The high command was earlier informed about the dharna as the pending issues were not resolved.
Among the demands, promotion of faculty has been stalled mainly due to CAS promotion proforma for a long time. The Chairman should be a member of any committee constituted for the formation of DCRUTA. Action should be taken on the pending promotion cases of some faculty members. No action has been taken on any promotion case since October 2022. The annual salary increment of faculty members due from January 2024 has not yet been deposited. HAG grant is pending for a long time. HAG should be provided as soon as possible. The seniority of the Dean, Chairperson, concerned cell and faculty members should not be ignored. Has been removed from the portfolio previously assigned, without completing the tenure mentioned in the assignment.
As per the Act of the University the portfolio of the Dean, Faculty of Management Studies, Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science has not been assigned for a long time. Basic facilities like drinking water, toilets, regular cleaning of water tanks and operation of lifts etc. are unsatisfactory. The shortage of laptops, furniture and printers should be removed and made available immediately. The maintenance fee for the resident is pending for more than 7 years even after payment.
There is a need to improve the security arrangements in the university like theft, residential area, unauthorized visitors in the university campus. NOC for monitoring students outside the university, access to grants for research projects, difficulties in submitting PhD thesis, plagiarism software subscription renewal. The concerned authorities are requested to expedite this so that research can be promoted in the university in the interest of academics.
