SOG raids university in case of issuing fake degrees

Jaipur, 10 April (HS). OPJS University campus was searched by the Special Operation Group on Wednesday in connection with the issue of fake degrees. Five SOG teams raided the university campus and arrested a broker and PTI son. SOG has seized a large quantity of fake degrees, sports certificates, seals and other records from here.

Additional Director General of Police ATS and SOG VK Singh said that a few days ago, SOG received information from a complainant (name confidential) that 52 year old Subhash Poonia, resident of Berasar Ghumana Rajgarh Churu, son of Gurudayal and his son Paramjeet Hall PTI Government Higher Secondary School Gurja Panchayat Samiti. Basedi Dholpur, along with his associates, is doing the work of getting admission in many universities through fake degrees, fake sports certificates, fake medals and fake back dates on a large scale in the form of an organized gang. On this information, a complaint was registered and investigation was done by Additional Superintendent of Police Satnam Singh. Investigation of the complaint revealed that accused Subhash Poonia works as a broker of many universities. He specially does brokerage in OPJS University Rajgarh Churu and in collusion with the management of OPJS University, gets fake degrees, medals, certificates etc. issued in the back date. Along with this, the verification of fake degree or certificate is done in collusion with some staff working in the education department and the management of the university. A case was registered on this by PS SOG under section 420, 467,468,471,120B IPC 13/2024. Additional Superintendent of Police Dharmaram Gilla was appointed as the investigation officer to investigate the case.

SOC did decoy operation, sent bogus customer for degree

During investigation, a decoy operation was planned along with the complainant to nab the above accused. Under the scheme, in view of the release of recruitment of librarian by the complainant, talks were held with the accused Subhash Poonia regarding getting the degree of librarian in back date. This deal was finalized for fifty thousand rupees, twenty thousand rupees were deposited as advance in the account of Subhash's son Paramjit at the request of Subhash. After a few days of depositing the money, accused Subhash sent the fake degree of Librarian to the complainant's mobile through WhatsApp. On April 9, 2023, it was decided by the accused Subhash to give the original forged degree to the complainant near OPJS University in Rajgarh. The first team was sent with the complainant under the leadership of Dharmaram Gilla, Additional Superintendent of Police. During the meeting with the complainant, accused Subhash told that the relevant degree is held by Pradeep Kumar Sharma, son of Amarchand Sharma, resident of Ward No. 25, Pugalsar Bas Sardarshahar, Churu, Sardarshahar and demanded the remaining money.

Subhash was caught by the SOG team on the spot and after this the SOG team reached Subhash's residential house in Berasar village and searched the house. During the search, about fifty degrees (original) of 7 universities, 81 sports certificates, records of 117 students like marksheet, Aadhaar, degree etc., 10 filled answer sheets, seals of 2 universities, 2 blank sports certificates and Check book and other documents were found. SOG has seized the documents and started investigating them. Apart from Subhash, SOG has arrested Pradeep Sharma and Paramjeet Poonia in this case. SOG also searched the house of PTI Paramjit Poonia. SOG has seized many documents from there also.

Used to get fake degrees printed from a shop

SOG investigation revealed that Subhash Poonia used to get fake degrees printed in a shop. Subhash Poonia gets fake degrees printed from a shop called Shekhawati Printers located near the bus stand in Rajgarh. SOG seized laptop and computer from this shop and arrested the shop operator, 40-year-old Rakesh, resident of Rajgarh Churu. SOG is interrogating accused Rakesh.

These people had obtained fake degrees, had made dummy candidates appear in the examination.

During the investigation of this entire episode, SOG found that Ganpat Lal, resident of Jakhal, Sanchore, currently physical teacher, Government Higher Primary School, Seelosan, Vikram, resident of Chitalwana, Jalore, Hall, physical teacher, Government Higher Primary School, Hotigaon and Narendra Hall, resident of Sanchore, physical teacher, Sanchore had appeared for OPJS. Not only did he get a fake B.P.Ed degree from the university, but a dummy candidate was also made to appear in the examination.

On this, SOG registered case 12/24,14/24,15/24 under Section 420,419,467,468,471,120 B, Bhadas 3,6 Public Examination Act 2022. Investigation revealed that in the last examination of Physical Teacher, a large number of candidates were selected by OPJS University on the basis of degrees. Investigation revealed that many candidates had obtained degree certificates backdated by spending money after the written examination. , During the search on the premises of OPJS University, a mobile phone, a hard disk, a laptop, a computer and a large number of documents were seized.
