Mumbai: An Instagram user has been arrested for spreading rumours about the health of a kindergarten victim of sexual abuse and her pregnant mother at a school in Badlapur. The situation reportedly worsened when a girl with more than five lakh Instagram followers went viral on social media.

Some misleading messages were going viral on social media regarding the health of the victim girl and her mother. The cyber cell of Thane city police traced the source of the message. Finally, investigation revealed that Ritika Prakash Shelar (21 years), a 5.5 lakh Instagram user living in Ambarnath, who has millions of followers, had posted this message.

Thus, Badlapur (East) police registered a case of spreading rumours and arrested the girl for further investigation.

In a school in Badlapur, a cleaning worker sexually abused two girls. The police arrested the accused. But a violent protest was organized against this incident. Meanwhile, the school was vandalized and a train was stopped by pelting stones. The police had to resort to lathicharge. Many policemen were injured in the stone pelting. Later, the internet service was shut down.

False information was spread on social media about the death of an injured child and the health of his pregnant mother. This misunderstanding increased the tension.
