WASHINGTON: ABC affiliates W and EP TV mistakenly announced the results and said Vice President Kamala Harris had won Pennsylvania.
With just a few days left for the US presidential election results, the channel's graphics showed that Kamala got 52% votes, while Trump got 47% votes.
He broke the news during Sunday's broadcast of the Formula 1 Mexican Grand Prix.
Thus, an online conspiracy took place and there was a flurry of criticism about the network. However, ABC later apologized for the mistake and said it would not happen again.
Explaining the reason for this error, WNEP-TV said that these figures were actually obtained without any definite planning. Not based on actual vote counting.
ABC further clarified that, in fact, it was not intended to be presented on screen. But it has been presented by mistake.
Some Democrats and Kamala supporters say they hope these figures prove true.
