Chardham Yatra: So far 52 people have died during the Chardham Yatra. Out of which 14 devotees died in Badrinath, 23 in Kedarnath, 03 in Gangotri and 12 in Yamunotri. In the last 10 years, more than 350 devotees have died in Kedarnath, the main reason for which is chest pain, restlessness and heart attack.
A devotee from Kerala who had come to visit Badrinath Dham died of cardiac arrest on Thursday. His family members performed his last rites in Vishnuprayag itself. So far, eight pilgrims who had come to Badrinath Dham have died of heart attack.
Four women and two men from Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala had come to visit Badrinath. Srinivasan (63) died of a sudden heart attack on Wednesday. CMO Dr. Rajiv Sharma has confirmed this. After this, the family brought the body to Vishnuprayag, but they did not have any material for the last rites. In this regard, they sought help from Joshimath Nagar Palika. On this, the Nagar Palika provided them with the material, only after which the last rites were performed.
A pilgrim from Punjab who was on a pilgrimage to Hemkund Sahib died of cardiac arrest. The doors of Hemkund Sahib will open on May 25. Some devotees are already reaching Khanderiya.
