South Korea’s weather agency said 20 centimeters of snow fell in the North and areas around Seoul. According to the agency, this is the heaviest snowfall in Seoul in 52 years. A typhoon that hit Seoul on November 28, 1972 dropped 12 centimeters of snow.

This snow storm has engulfed most parts of the country. About 10 to 23 cm of snowfall has been recorded in the central, eastern and south-western parts of the country. At least 220 flights were canceled or delayed at airports across the country. Authorities have ordered about 90 boats to remain in port. Snow accumulation on roads in Seoul slowed traffic in the morning, while emergency crews across the country worked to remove fallen trees, signs and other safety hazards. The weather agency said that snowfall will continue in most parts of the country till Thursday afternoon.
